Highway ball???
Marvel ball????
Puma????
WTF????
ok,
pastel, spector, yellowbelly=???
citrus pastel, spector, yellowbelly=???
pastel, yellowbelly...ummm..HET PUMA???=??? WTF is a puma, or het puma?

I thought I knew what these were until I looked at the pics on worldofballpythons. What is the damn difference between the citrus puma and the citrus super stripe. If some one could PLEASE clear ALL this up for me, I would be very greatfull, because I want to make the marvel ball, but NOT the citrus super stripe. So I need to know what ingredients I need.

Highway ball = Yellow Belly bred to a 'Het" Highway
Puma = Yellow Belly bred to a "Het" Puma
Marvel = Citrus Pastel Super Stripe
Super Stripe = Yellow Belly to Spector

The Het Puma and Het Highway are similar to a Spector but they make different snakes when bred to a Yellow Belly.
Hope that helps!

FIRST PIC=Highway ball.
SECOND PIC=Puma ball.
THIRD PIC=Marvel ball.
See my confusion?
The third pic is the one I want to make! NOT the other two...lol. This is so baffling!

I just spoke to Markus Jayne, and he was very polite and explained it for me.

I guess the Puma, and the Highway were not purposefully made to create the super stripe, but the marvel ball is indeed a superstripe citrus pastel. Thank you to all that replied.

Has anyone made a super stripe pastel with a different line of pastel...Bell, Nerd, Graziani, ect.?

Albey Mar 13, 2011 07:01 PM

There is a good chance that the Marvel Ball is more than just a Citrus Pastel Superstripe. There may be another gene at work that is causing the aberrant pattern and Mark Mandic is hoping to prove it some time soon. The clutch mate to the Marvel Ball looked like a regular Pastel Superstripe just like the following picture.

Guys,
the marvel is an amazing looking snake. But it doesnt Have ANY Citrus pastel in it at all. The pastel Ivory male that produced it hatched here and was part of a trade with AMIR. So, Amir sold it to Mark Haas but it wasnt produced by him. I mean he makes lots of snakes but at the Daytona show he sold out of citrus pastel ivorys. So, whatever is going on has nothing to do with citrus stuff which is awesome. so its anybodys guess. Not enough pastel superstripes have really hatched out to figure anything out yet. But congrats to mark haas for producing it and hopefully more will be made.

Ahh, I see. So the Marvel, truly is a Marvel ball, it is unknown as of now! Sure is sweet though!

guys,
LOL....yes, sometimes things are just crazy. Who knows what is really going on there. I think it will be interesting to see how the marvel develops. I kind of think its gonna color up. Im not saying it wont be cool. just alot can happen. And of course, it could be like the graphite ivory project. YOu may not reproduce it with normal yellowbelllys. I have thought for a long time that the yellowbelly gene was much more important than alot of people figured. good problems to have though...

zippy00_99 Mar 14, 2011 11:13 AM

Why would so many people be wrong about this? PLEASE people, figure out the ingredients.

sloanreptiles Mar 14, 2011 04:15 PM

Don't worry, just thought it was Citrus Pastel and not soeomthing else at play. Don't worry not that big of a deal, evidently the Pastel Ivory that made the Pastel Superstripe has a different line of Pastel and another gene at play. Still made with Super Stripe though a Specter Yellowbelly

Yes, what's really interesting is that the mother(female spectre) had produced regular superstripes in the past. The male pastel ivory that I sold Amir was produced by a Snakekeeper male SuperPastel yellowbelly bred to a wild caught yellowbelly female. So what's really in question is could it be from the yellowbelly side of the equation? I have never heard of Snakekeeper pastels having any Fader type genetics....
