I think most reptiles look better in color. This is a closeup of my iguana, Iggi. I used a Minolta Dimage 5, at 49.3mm (250mm equivalent), on Macro mode, with a 1, 2, and 4 closeup lens attached. 1/250 second at f/8.

That should be 1, 2 and 4 closeup lens.

? For some reason, this messsage board is not posting the plus symbols. The lens I attached were a plus 1, plus 2, and plus 4 closeup lens screwed onto the filter attachment.

Only thing is ... I can see your reflection in his eye!

Yes, I thought about clone painting it out with Photoshop, but the reason for the post was in response to a post called Black & White, where a guy posted a good picture of an iguana, but in black and white. I thought color is best for reptiles (except maybe a black snake, or a cyculra iguana). This way you see the colors. My ig goes from light green, through turquoise, into darker green, depending on where you look on her body.

Hello ig_daddy, I'm that guy who posted the black and white photo of the iguana my name is Geo. First I would like to say that I agree totally that most pictures of reptiles do look better in color if not all. Being the owner of several Corn snakes and a python I have never photographed them in black in white because of there beautiful color. Now in regards to the black and white photo of the iguana that I posted it was not to promote black and white photos. I just thought it came out awesome and I simply wanted to share not stir up a debate on which is better. And as I clearly mentioned in my response to your question... my response was "ig_daddy, I shot this photo in black and white to give it a prehistoric look to it. Try the black and white feature on your camara I guarantee you'll like it." You see having a digital camara is a hobbie of mine and not limiting myself to color is just alot of fun. So if you happen to see a python or a turtle in a Sepia tone just smile and take it for what it is. Just a photograph. By the way that close up of your iguana was awesome. Please do not take this as a flame, once again I am only giving you my reason for shooting the iguana in black in white.
From a fellow photographer.....Geo

Thanks, I didn't take it as a flame. My Dimage 5 took my closeup lens from my 50mm Canon FD lens (after a step down adapter). Your use of black and white forces the viewers attention to textures and details, of which igs have loads. I've never shot in the black and white mode, except to record a water meter reading. I usually remove the color with Photoshop Elements.
I also posted the picture, because this forum was getting BORING, and I thought it might stimulate some comments.
