Alternatives to an Axanthic

Seeves1982 Mar 14, 2011 07:13 AM

I absolutely love the look of an Axanthic, but I've seen pictures of how they brown out. I've heard that the VPI has the best color, but do they eventually brown out as well? Also I've seen some really cool snakes that look similar. I believe one was a morph involving a black pastel, but I can't remember what it was called? Is there a morph similar to the Axanthic that does not brown out?

Thanks,
Mike

In MY opinion, the recessive desert ghost is the prettiest black and white snake in adulthood.

You're probably thinking of a pewter.

Black pastel x pastel.
Probably black pastel x Lemon pastel if you want it to stay really silver.

Though I have never seen it done, a Liesen line Black Pastel and a Lemon pastel would probably be nice and silver plus hold its pattern into adulthood. Many other Black Pastels Pewters tend to pixelate or wash out their pattern as they age.

vpi had a new line of axanthic called the black axanthic. it is completely different from regular vpi axanthics.
they are said to never brown out and stay nice and crisp

There are some VPI Axanthics that do not brown out into adulthood. Ralph Davis has some adults that have no brown at all.

Also like previously stated VPI's Black Axanthics are supposed to stay Black.

I would like to See the Combo of Super Black Pastel Axanthic, not sure if the all black snake would cover up the silver of the axanthic 'probably' but would be an interesting combo.
