I have had a male fat tail gecko for a while and i think he is really cool.So i bought him a little female(3 inches).I keep the male in a 15 gallon and the female in a 10 gallon.

Questions are:

1.Will a 15 gallon be big enough for both of them?
2.Is sand an okay subtrate?
3.I would like to breed them but how?
4.How old does the female have to be to breed?
5.I heard they will soak in a water dish should i let them?
6.My male will only eat crickets, no meals or supers how come?

1.Will a 15 gallon be big enough for both of them?

A: A twenty long would be better.

2.Is sand an okay subtrate?

A: Nope. These guys require more humidity. It is better to use a mulch type substrate.

3.I would like to breed them but how?

A: It takes practice and luck and patience. You have plenty of time to read up until the female is old enough. I will be happy to answer specific questions in e-mails if you want. there isn't enough room here to really get into it.

4.How old does the female have to be to breed?

A: A better question would be how much should she weigh? She should be at least 45 grams. Her age will be dependant on when she hits this weight. Some grow faster and some grow slower than others.

5.I heard they will soak in a water dish should i let them?

A: Sure. I give mine a humid hide in addition but some will soak anyway. It's ok if they do.

6.My male will only eat crickets, no meals or supers how come?

A: AFT's can be funny. My male will only eat crix. Every once in a while he will eat a waxie but it's not often. The one female will eat crix, waxies and an occasional pinkie. The other female will eat ANYTHING you put in front of her. lmao.
