Het Pied Female??? Need opinions

killerbps91 Mar 15, 2011 10:20 PM

Hi, I have here a 5 YO normal female with rather nice belly pattern that goes up almost the whole underside. I'm to sure of the complete genetics as i got her from someone who had her as a pet and didn't know her history. I'm not sure shes a het pied but i believe shes got a little something extra in there. what do u think?

PS she is a little small ATM because she just layed 6 big healthy eggs just days ago.

I would say Het Pied or clear belly but there is something going on there for sure.

I highly doubt it is anything especially if your friend only bought it/kept it as a pet. I have about 20 adult normal females that look just like that. Some of them are cb some of them are wc. I have het pieds that show markers and some that do not. I wouldnt bet on anything more then normal, but the only way you will know is when those eggs hatch. You may have to breed some of them back to the mom too.

1) Is it worth purchasing a Pied male just for that one female that "might" be Het Pied ?? I wouldn't, but that is me.

2) Are you already planning on purchasing a Pied male for other reasons and if so, breeding to her obviously makes sense ??

I wouldn't breed one of her sons back to her unless they were a double co-dom baby or something like that.
