I think I'm gonna string them along as far as I can this time including letting them express the phony MO to my PO box....

Hmmm, the same "hearing impaired" comment - to prevent talking in person? Makes me mad as my aunt truly is hearing impaired.

And the same "intentions remain noble" comment. My intentions are to give them exactly what they deserve.

yeah if you have a P.O box (ie not your own address) string them along as far as you can. Hell, get them to write you some cheque, and then frame it and stick it on the wall in your snake room.

the only thing that i have been laughing about lately, is the day that there is truly a hearing impaired mute african that preferably uses Western Union, who really legitimately does want to buy a snake from the US. I think they are going to be in for a hard time.

Its a scam letter which often gets sent to people trying to sell stuff. The trick is they try to get you to send them money, claiming they will send you a cashier's check or similar phony payment method, which is far greater than the selling price of the item. The trick is they want you to send them the difference right away...hoping to get that much sent to them before you find out the money order they sent, is phony.

RainbowsRus likes to mess with them...

To avoid online scams...watch for the following red flags:

-Horrible spelling/punctuation in letter
-Use of 'shippers' or other clients who will pick up or receive item
-payments that are far more than the asking price of the object you are selling
-never send money or product till their money clears at the bank (ie typically takes 1-2 weeks)
-vague descriptions of object in letter/responses (ie 'interested in buying item, your reptile' etc). Even the insistence you take down your ad. Never heard of any legitimate buyer asking to have the ad removed.

If you get an email you are not sure of, asking further questions usually will quickly clear it up. Even asking which item they want if it wasn't specified in their initial contact. Ask it again next time you reply to a response...legitimate people wont' forget what they want to buy from you.

Last time I got one very similar with very similar phrasing like it's a form letter more than one scammer are using. At the end the money order was accidentally made out for their monthly check, not the amount they owed me and it would be much quicker to send me the money order and have me western union the balance minus a annoyance fee back to them. Of course the fake or stolen MO would eventually bonce and I would have been out whatever I sent back to them. The "shipping agent" would never have shown up for the merchandise.

Yes I have a PO box and yes I'm going to mess with them. Best case is I get them to express the bad MO to me and I have some wallpaper and a story. While they are out some of their stolen funds from another "mark".

>>
>>-Horrible spelling/punctuation in letter good indicator but not enough, I have real customers that don't spell well.
>>-Use of 'shippers' or other clients who will pick up or receive item Never, I repeat - NEVER!! have I had a real customer who had a shipping agent that would come by to pick up the animals. I have had international customers where I send the babies to an actual exporter.
>>-payments that are far more than the asking price of the object you are selling Duh, biggest warning flag.
>>-never send money or product till their money clears at the bank (ie typically takes 1-2 weeks) Make it standard practice unless you know the person.

Never heard of any legitimate buyer asking to have the ad removed. Only had that one time with a legitimate buyer but that was an overseas shipment through a trusted exporter friend.

Just one more word of caution, they will try to calm your fears so they can scam you. Successful scammers are those that can talk a good talk.

This is sooooo lame. I think their response is word for word the same as the last time they tried to scam me.....

ROFLOL, as I started to copy the text I noticed the corners of a text box. ie was copy/pasted into the email.

Good day, how was your day ? I just receive the confirmation from the
Bank that the payment as been issued out and was mailed by the USPS
Express . It will be delivered to your address a day from now
according to the courier ,but to my greatest surprise the draft was
issued out for my monthly pay check $2950 instead of the actual
cost of my purchase .

The Bank claimed that i requested for my monthly pay check to be
issued out to you but am very sure i only made a request for the cost
of the albino to be made out to your name .This is a terrible mistake
and i was just informed about this so please once the check is
delivered please take it to your Bank and have it cashed as advised
by the accounting officer at the Bank.

You will then deduct the cost of my purchase plus an extra $100 to
offset the cost of your run around expenses. The rest of the fund
should be sent to my mover via western union the same day you do
receive the payment so that my mover can make the trip over for the
pick at once. **I will need your immediate response via email assuring
me that i can trust you to handle this with care and have the
remaining fund returned appropriately.I am hearing impaired and will
hope that your intentions remains noble though out the duration of
this transaction**

Thanks
Tina

and my country bumpkin reply...

I'm doing fine, much better than you are per your email.

Yeah, we can work out getting the excess back to you. Darn banks. You will have to send me some guidence as I have never sent money via Western Union before. I'll surf around in the meantime and find out what I can. I seem to remember seeing their sign somewhere, maybe a grocery store or Walmart?

I'm thinking by the end of the week I will have a bogus Money Order in hand. One they had to pay something to produce and ship to me.

NICE work Dave!!! These people are pathetic!!! I really do wonder who these simple rip-off scams ever even work on. I guess old folks haha... I like that you are getting back at them and I am quite convinced that this is some 12 yr old from Asia you are dealing with.
