Just curious how do those frogs/snakes/lizards make it in the wild through the winter when its well below freezing? The ground is frozen so they must find places pretty deep down to not freeze solid.Anyone know the answer?

Seems like a simple question but it isn't... for the most part cold blooded animals do have to hibernate (they don't actually hibernate they brumate) below the frost line of the area they live in... there are some exceptions among frogs, turtles and salamanders.
The subject on the how's of hibernation is far to long to get into here, below is a link to a rather good book on herpetology... hopefully the link will take you to the right page... if not start reading around page 188.
