How can one tell if he/she has a fader? I have a male super pastel that looks a lot like yours. What would I need to breed him to to CONFIRM that he is indeed a fader?

The fader gene is not a new gene its a phenotype of the pastel gene. Pastels are a pleiotropic gene they control more than one phenotype of that gene. You can take an ugly pastel and make faders just will take you a few years of selective breeding. Pastels exhibit the fader gene when bred to certain genes aswell as in super pastel form. Like I said its not a new gene just a new sales pitch. I have faders in my collection and I dont own a single animal from NERD or anyone else who is claiming these "faders" how can this be?

You are very sadly misinformed. The fader gene is a gene in itself. It ties itself to the same allele as the pastel but you CANNOT create faders out of thin air. Faders hatch out almost snow white as hatchlings, and NERD wasn't the first one to have it pop out among their pastel lines. Amir was the first to find the gene and they are what he calls the citrus whiteouts. The faders and the whiteouts make some sick things that the pastel gene cannot do by itself. I own several whiteouts and lots of regular pastels and pastel combos. They are different and are not the product of selective breedings. You can tell a whiteout in a clutch among a bunch of regular pastels. Like I said, they are almost white when they hatch.

then post pictures of the fader gene by its self.

Well The fader Gene is a gene in it self my line of fader comes from the graziani line of fader.Markus jayne produced the first female and greg grziani has produced some over the years but few of them.It is a fairly new project with this line.Greg has already done some combos with the gene and it is really impressive.I will have some fader crosses this year.I Know there are a few diffrent lines of the fader gene like the nerd, amirs line and the graziani line.I was lucky to have this gene in my pastel females that i purchased 4 years ago from greg.
All I know is that I am very excited about the potential of this gene.I have already seen what it can do and i have a feeling that it is going to be even more insane once we start adding multiple genes to it to see what the outcome will be.
Thank you

Like I said it attaches itself to the same allele as the pastel. The animal has to be a pastel of some sort in order for the fader gene to attach. Just because you cannot single the gene out doesn't mean it doesn't exist. The gene works just like the platinum gene (if you really have any idea what youre talking about). Heres an idea, don't try and hijack posts, and quit trying to spread your misinformation. You are hurting yourself as well as those that don't know so much about it yet.

well i think the gene doesnt just have to be in pastels and pastel combos I think it works diffrently than that but it still has to be proved out but i think in the next couple of years we can possibly prove something out but as of now im trying to put the gene in most of my projects.
