What is the pinnacle of boas?

tevie84 Mar 20, 2011 02:08 AM

I know there are many beautiful morphs out there such as T , Aztec, Key West, Diamond, Motley, Paradigm (BWC/Sharp), etc... but what is the top morph or combo that everyone is trying to attain? Since the Diamond boa is a lucy of some sort, whats next for boas? Super Aztec T ? Super Jungle T ? T Scoria? T Anery? I'd like to hear whats the future for boas. Thanks for all input.

In boas, to me, nothing is more beautiful than a natural BCC. Bill

JB If you could continually reproduce that Phenotype of Color and look over and over .
So everybody could eventually obtain one.

I could agree it would be one of those Boas for everyone to strive for !

Lucas hit the nail on the head there are many different "pinnacle Boas" !

It all depends on what each person likes.

In my case I probably have many different ideas of what my pinnacle Boas are !

Most involve red color I do know that !

Was is the "pinnacle" for one may not be the "pinnacle" for another. The greatest thing about the boa world is that it is only limited to one's imagination and believe all of those that you have mentioned i have imagined. However my opinion and it is only my opinion is your "pinnacle" is what ever YOU love the most or most frequently dream about. There is my 2 cents for what its worth!

Cause Lucas just said it. I like the Lucy stuff but I don't love it, let me get my opinion that one out and clear. Ill get one when they hit the low 4 digits as a compliment to my collection but It's as far as we know a dead end project that can't be added to, so it goes against my principal love for breeding boas. I much prefer to work towards for example: pastel keywest bloody sunglow. Or a vpi t moonglow Aztec. And my 4-6 gene combo perhaps is not someone else's but if I could add to Lucas' factual statement, I would add that someone's "dream goal" in boas is a 5-7 morph/color stack of whatever they like and to each their own...and if another breeder likes it and wants to buy one or trade for one caise of all the time and work it took great! If no one likes it...great too! does that make sense?

DeHart Mar 22, 2011 07:02 AM

It remains to be seen if leucistics have combo potential...I'm believing there will be, particularly in "hets." Mr. Stone is not releasing het pics to the general public just yet, and from my brief computer conversation with him I left believing there is at least some combo potential

DeHart Mar 20, 2011 07:55 AM

What Lucas Matlock said! Myself, I like to try for things totally new instead of repeating other people's projects. My combo morph projects include the hope for having high-red and high-blue on the same snake (thinking it should look "3-D" because your eyes can't focus on both side-by-side) but if I only get extreme-purples I'll be happy; also breeding for extreme-pink, Chocolate ghost/snow chocolate, Hypo-chocolate bloody blizzard (dragon), etc. Even if they don't quite look like I hoped, they will look goooood, and it'll be fun seeing what happens

Not the response I thought I was going to get. Oh well...

SouthFLBoa Mar 20, 2011 11:32 PM

sorry, newbie here with a quick question.. What is T ? Mentioned in the original post, and I see them listed all over the Boa classifieds.. Thanks in advance!

LarM Mar 21, 2011 01:27 AM

T Stands for Tyrosinase, in this case Tyrosinase Positive as VPI Caramel Albino it's considered a T positive Boa.

Tyrosinase Positive actually is now an out dated scientific term OCA 2 ( Oculocutaneous type 2 ) and OCA 3 ( Oculocutaneous type 3 )

Here is an Example of My VPI Caramel Albino Pink Panther Male OCA 2 Or T positive
Produced By Tracy Barker of VPI

There are other forms of T positive Boas in the Boa Hobby

These are some of the Colombian types

Boa woman Caramels (BWC)

Russian T Blonde Boas

Prodigy Boas

Paradigm is considered to fall in this category that's still not entirely clear

Then there are several Central American T Pos variations

This Below Link is a full page definition explantion
Albino Type 1 2 & 3

The next link below is a long discussion elsewhere about this subject.

thanks for this reply, REALLY informative much appreciated!

Jonathan_Brady Mar 20, 2011 11:45 PM

doesn't it suck when people tell you what they think, instead of what you want to hear?

Next time you should be more specific with your post. Don't ask people to type their opinion, tell them to type yours. You'll be more entertained that way!

lol

all in jest

Another way to answer your question is that cheap normals way outsell any morph. It's my personal opinion that the only true "market" is the eventual pet/hobbyist market, and those people seem to me to most often want "flashy for cheap." Show most average reptile pet purchasers a Hog X Pastel cross and an adult T Colombian and they won't be able to tell you the $300.00 one from the $3,000.00 dollar one...but they will buy the cheaper one. I most often try to both breed to have something to come out ahead with, but also what I will still enjoy raising and think are beautiful when they are eventually only selling for $50.00.

For me, it may be some of the morph combos with these...like bloody sunglow chocolates that I'm hoping will be extreme pink.
