Ball python in rack wth kings & corns

wbcrows Mar 20, 2011 08:35 AM

I wanted to place my first BP in the rack system instead of a glas tank because i can control the temps better in the rack, is it a problem if there are corns and kings in the other tubs?

thanks any advice will be appreiciated

As long as you can meet all the snakes' temperature and humidity needs while keeping them together, I think it works fine.

I have 3 species of King, Ball Pythons and soon a Bullsnake that will all be in two rack systems kept at similar temperatures. During the winter the kings have a tendency to stay toward the front (cooler) end of the tubs and buried in their substrate. Other than that, they all act as they would in a rack system of nothing but their own species.

I've actually found it helpful to have the mix of species because I can use the kings to separate tubs of dominant and young males, males and breeding size females, etc, to help everybody keep feeding.

my middle sized box racks...
bottoms start with coastal plains milks...reds...pale...go up to sinaloans...corns...nelsoni....above them? maybe some amel house snakes.....then male balls...year old...then above them female balls...couple year olds and a bunch of 2010's....the racks are 4 wide x 10 high...40 boxes to a rack....custom made...1992...LOL...if it still works...why throw it away and buy "new improved " plastic racks.......LOL....

........as long as they are all healthy and all temps are good...

....balls like it just above colubridae....tamp wise anyways...like 82 to 85 I think....
