Gravid or not..?

DavidTetreault Mar 21, 2011 07:19 AM

I have had a pair breeding for a couple months. The male was always on her locked and I saw several copulations. Last week he started hiding under the paper and the female is swelled up. I took him out for a few days and reintroduced them with him hiding again. She has either been curled around her bowl or curled sideways on the heat. I breed Boas so this is my first try with Balls. How does it look from the pics? Thanks,

David,

I too breed ball pythons and boas.

There's no way I can say for sure, but based on at least 2 observations. The size of her girth and the fact that she's in the water like that tells me that she's either ovulated or getting ready to ovulate.

I would note the date of her next shed. If that shed is her pre lay shed or post ovulation shed, she should drop her clutch 30 days or so after that shed.

If you have any questions please feel free to give me a call at 408.981.6694, I'm pretty user friendly.

Good luck

There's no question about that!! She should shed in 16-21 days then a month later you'll have eggs. She has a nice clean look and light coloration what was she bred by? Chris

She was bred with a Pastel male. This is my first time breeding Balls. I have already had a couple Boa litters this year. Breeding Pythons is quite different. Thanks for your help guys.
