Preventing escape?

kestrelgoddess Sep 28, 2003 03:12 PM

I have two male balls in a wooden cage, with circular side vents. My older snake routinely pushes on one of these vents at nights, I don't know if the fresh air attracts him or what. This isn't a problem now, as the vents seem securely attached (a friend built the cage, so I'm not that sure), but I'm worried that as they get older & stronger they'll be able to push out the vent & escape. So two questions:

1) Is there any way to discourage them from pushing on the vents?

2) Is there a way to more securely fasten them to the cage? They haven't moved yet & seem pretty secure, but I just want to be careful. I was thinking duct tape?

Thanks

Duct tape isnt very attractive. You said its wood (if i read correctly) use a staple gun to secure it, if you have one. I only have one wooden cage and I got staple happy with it, works nice though.
