It tickles my heart to hear you call this boa Azabache as I gave Pete Kahl the name to use....BEAUTIFUL!!!In my home country of Cuba when something is really black we call it Azabache which is centuries old petrified wood and supposedly good luck when worn as a broach or off of a chain or something. I got 1 recently finally and I cant wait till it sheds everytime as I know it will change color with every shed...THATS AN EXCITING BOA!!!

Thanks Brandon! you will be one of the first thats for sure

I love that appearance. I can't wait to see the azabache combos! Here's a link to my "Blue Moon" line C. Am's that get IMG-type somewhat as they age. What do you think? I need to breed the lines together to see what happens!!!

very interesting animals you have there!

voodoomagik Mar 23, 2011 08:12 AM

That's going to be a great looking snake!
This is the same Kahl line IMG, right?
Did the name azabache get added to the original line or are there 2 separate lines of IMG?
Has it been confirmed that this is a dominant trait or do we know how it works yet?
Thanks again for posting and thanks in advance for your answers!

Yes this is the same kahl line IMG boa. To my understanding Manny gave Pete the idea for the name.

I guess I have one concern about this morph in that if you breed any pattern morphs into it and even color morphs are they all just going to eventually turn black? Doesnt make for any interesting new combination morphs then??? Just a thought to ponder.

I THINK THEY ARE NICE ENOUGH ON THEIR OWN PERSONALLY

perfectpredators Mar 23, 2011 06:21 PM

I think they're nice enough on their own too AND I wonder if a number of
Caramel out there could/would make the black look "lavender" how black outlines on caramels look lavender. Also I'd be interested in seeing what a super hypo would do to it....a win win.

DeHart Mar 24, 2011 06:27 AM

I think blood-azabache, bloody albino azabache and the same in T-positive will likely be top of the game...I'm wondering what it may do with leuciistic myself

perfectpredators Mar 24, 2011 09:41 AM

I really really like your style. I would love to see those happen and what will they look like when it does....the leucistic though...im not too sure what would happen, I'm a bit puzzled, it would have to be done to be understood I suppose.

DeHart Mar 24, 2011 09:59 AM

Since the hypomels do not stop the black from coming through, and Stone's luecistic has scattered colored (red) scales, I think you could possibly get some intriguing results...worst case scenario is that you'd have special looking double hets! I'm working on making Black Peruvian poss het pewters, Blue Moon line (sometimes make IMG-type) poss het T-positive snows, hypo poss het Mayan-stripe/chocolate dilute T snow, etc., as we speak! I eventually should have four bloodlines to combine (if I live long enough) in hopes of producing the blue-est snows on the planet, the most purple albinos on the planets, and the pinkest sunglows on the planet! So far all I seem to have is the most worthless poss hets on the planet! I guess when I get some combos with the Mayan/Chocolates and Blue Moons people will finally see the potential

zell Mar 24, 2011 11:16 AM

Im looking foward to a ghost motley azabache or even a ghost jungle azabache. Im very interested in what the t pos gene will do to it

DeHart Mar 25, 2011 07:00 AM

I've saw the pics on Kahl's site of hypos, and I think it's a really neat effect. I'm more curious about albinos....looking closely at them it seems that it's not just hightened black, but also freckles of yellow and red as they develop.
