Imitator ratio for a group

NateW. Sep 28, 2003 04:39 PM

Hi everyone
I have a question about the ratio you guys have for your imitators that you keep in groups, what do you use? I want to make a group that will have two bloodlines, so i'm thinking 2 males from one line and 3 females from another. How does this sound? Also if some people could post pics of imitator or any other arboreal frog tanks you have, i'm looking for a little inspiration.
thanks

I was normally high on males in my colonies. I think the inter male competition was good, but I also liked their calls. There are some pictures of tanks on my site that I had imitator in.

I had that exact combination 2 males, 3 females. The only problem was all of my ladies prefered the same gentleman and fought about it, messed up each other's eggs, and are not ladylike at all. The other male just stayed by his lonesome. When I lost the dominant male, the remaining male took over, but was rather incompetent about taking care of the tadpoles. I'm separating one pair and hoping the current tadpoles will be males. So I think Justin is right in thinking that more males and fewer females would be better in a group. For serious breeding, I should think one on one separately would be the best, especially if you are going to let them raise their own babies.
