new to corns

V8Rob Sep 28, 2003 05:02 PM

I've been reserching corns for a while and i the only problem im haveing is that i have a 55 gallon tank and i dont want to buy a smaller one. Ive cosidered taking a piece plexy glass from the other side of the tanks lid and useing it as a block to shrink the tank down. But i was wondering why the small corns need a rather small area to grow in.

They need a smaller enclosure to feel more secure. They eat better and grow better in a more secure location a ten gallon with lid is only like $25. You don't HAVE to buy a smaller enclosure but it would be preferable.

They do seem to be more comfortable (and active) in smaller enclosures when young. You could buy a small rubbermaid or sterilite shoe or sweater box for less than $10 and put holes in it with a soldering iron or woodburner. Make sure the holes are too small for the snake to slither through!
Use that until your snake grows up a little. Later, it will really appreciate the 55. Enjoy! Duffy

he was only 4 weeks old when I bought him and i only had a 29 gallon tank, i went out and cut some branches and sterilized it and stuff......and i put it all in the tank and my corn loves it! he is usually active around 10 pm.....he loves climbing and being in the plastic plants i put inside. =) and he also feeds very well! no problems at all. for substrate i would suggest u use paper towels thouhg. (easier to spot his poo and clean it) when my corn gets bigger, ill probably switch to asphen shavings.

just dont forget...u need these:
