Is a 29gallon too big for a 2 month old dragon? some ?'s

I'm not sure if I should put it in it or not. It looks a little big, but I'm not sure. I just ordered a 160watt T-rex merc spot light, do you think that will heat the basking area well enough(115deg)? I live in Ohio if that helps. And what type of thermometer do you use? I only have zoomed adhesive strip ones now, because my electric one broke. Do you know if they are acurate enough? A really good pet store owner told me that they are the best not including the infrared or digital ones. Thanks.

A 29 gallon may be scary to such a little fella. Your light will probably be too hot for your tank, but you can adjust the heighth of it to obtain the appropriate temps. Accurate measurements will tell for sure, & the only way to get an accurate temp is with a digital indoor/outdoor thermometer w/ a probe (walmart $10), or a temp gun. The stick on strip ones & the little round analog ones are of no use whatsoever! Most pet store employees don't really know the proper advice or care to give. Be sure to keep the little one well-hydrated w/ mistings/soaks!
I'm next door to you, in Indiana, & would LOVE to see some pics of your little guy/gal!

A 29 gallon is fine. But the most inexspensive way is to buy the adult sized cage. I start all my babies in the cage they will be living in their whole lives. I don't think it will scare them. If anything, it'll let them run around more. What happens in the wild? Does mother nature slowly make herself bigger for them? No..they start out with the sky their limits...or the water, unless they're good swimmers.

The spot light mercury vapor bulbs says right on the package not to let a reptile within 6' of the bulb. Get the flood light. I have a flood and it is fine for my 4x2x2 cage I have a female in.
