new to cresteds, temp question

str33tsk8rx Sep 28, 2003 05:28 PM

hey guys, i'm planning on buying a crested but i have some questions regarding temperature. during the winter and cooler months i have no problem keping the tank at around 75 degrees. but during the summer, the room temp rises to the mid 80's. how would i keep the temperature in the tank down during the summer? any ideas?
thanks

Is the room temp in the mid 80's from floor to ceiling. Check what the temps are at floor level. I would be willing to bet they are at 80 or less. If that is the case, just keep the cage on the floor. Other than that, the only thing I can suggest is try a different room.
good luck

thnx for the reply. i checked the temp in the office downstairs at floor level and it is about 78. so i will just take the cage down stairs during the summer. oh and during the winter it gets cold and i was planning on using one of those red reptile bulbs by zoo-med. would that work or should i use a ceramic heat emmiter instead?

The red bulbs are fine, as are the blue ones. Just be sure that you create a temp. gradient so the gecko can more to where it is most comforable.
Good luck
