Chameleon Explorers

My fiance and I try to handle our Veiled chameleon female often, in order for her to get used to us. She is usually ok now with us holding her in our hands (She likes my fiance a little better, though), but usually tries to crawl onto our bed to walk around. One time she did crawl onto the bed from my hand when I wasn't paying attention and she headed straight for my jacket. She crawled up onto it and started heading for the phone chords hanging by the wall. I picked her up and she seemed slightly dissapointed. Is it ok to let her walk around a bit on our bed, or is this a no-no?

I don't see why it would be a bad thing.... I used to have a Jacksons chameleon that I kept on a tree in the corner of my bedroom, and he figured out how to get down from the pot (basically jumped). I would always find him up on the top of the vertical blinds or in the closet exploring. As long as you're watching out for her at all times and don't have any other chameleon hunting pets. It's probably good for her to explore a bit. They like open space and being able to wander around. I say go for it. Lots of people "free range" their chameleons.

i let my mine roam all the time. after he spends some time outside i bring back inside and put him on the top of his cage and let him roam about. i recently bought a pothos and hung it next to his cage so he can go a bit further and higher, which he LOVES! he gets pissy when i HAVE TO put him back in his cage. usually though i let him decide when it's time, he always comes back down and goes back in.
