Motley-Besque, bad blood? *need info*

0PARADOX0 Mar 28, 2011 05:13 PM

Hello ,

I havent heard or seen any posts on here in a while about Motley-besques but never really thought anything of it as I have just been focusing on the boas I already have. Then, a chance to get into motley-besques arouse and I told a friend about it and they mentioned that the results of pairing a motley to an Arabesque has/ could have the same effect on the offspring as the Super Motley offspring where they don't survive past 2 years old because of the doubling up of certain genes. I have never heard of this( in Motley-besques) but it reminded me that I havent heard about Motley-besque breedings or offspring in a while and thought it might have some truth to it....? Does anyone have any input into this at all?

PLEASE DONT THINK TOO MUCH INTO THIS, I AM ONLY ASKING TO GET INFO ON WHAT I WAS TOLD!!!!!! I definitely dont want to make any assumptions, I just dont want to spend a couple grand to find out I should have just bred the snakes to different ones.
Thanks for any and all input into this subject!!!!!

I bred MB back in 2008 and they are perfectly healthy animals. With one male of that litter I paired a Salmon Jungle female and she looks gravid babys should be born if everything goes well in the next view weeks. I think there is no problem with MBs

This is the first time I ever heard anything on this subject. A friend of mine has a few healthy 08 and 09 motleybesques. I believe its a false statment. Where did you hear this from? Was it from an experianced breeder who worked with this pairing?

hey everybody, thanks for your replies!!! The whole conversation was just brought up at the time about how you never really see ads on Kingsnake for M-Bs anymore and that was that.. one friend of mine , who is an experienced breeder of ball pythons but does have a few boas and has produced 2 litters of baby boas, said MAYBE mixing the Arabesque and Motley genes was similar to a super motley.....thats all. just a guess/comment. I figured I would get on here to see if maybe there was truth to that or just something he pulled out of his head to explain why we dont see MB much anymore. Thats all.....

I appreciate everyones responses and it has assured me, while it was just his opinion, it was a wrong one but hey , we all learn things eveyday!! Thanks guys!!
