feeding and weight gain question.

hollywood_balls Mar 29, 2011 01:46 PM

I have a few females at around 600-750 gram range. Can anyone out there recommend a feeding schedule/plan that will help me get these girls to breeding size/weight for the 2011(coming up season) breeding season?

If I am risking my animals' health by trying to achieve such goals in such a short span of time, I will apologize ahead of time for my ignorance and inexperience.

Any input would help. Thanks in advance.

I would put them on small rats once every 5 days or so, and if small rats are too big for them than go with weaned rats they really put on weight. Two weaks ago my female yellowbelly was around 790 grams empty, and i switched her from adult mice to small rats. Now she is 1024 grams so your females should be able to go next year if they eat well.

I feed every Sunday...an appropriate size rat for my females and males...I have charted growth of my whole collection and 75 grams a month is an average, so putting 800 grams on in a year wont push the limits. I don't power feed to large of prey, just enough to show a lump after consumed. So if you want your females to hit the 1400 g mark before breeding do the math.
