Man, this forum is a ghost town,...

Is everyone besides me doing something this weekend? lol.

Hey, who else besides me is breeding hybrid rock burmese? Just curious. Anyone? (just reaching for ANY interesting topic. This place is DEAD) I personally love these snakes. They are amazing looking (when 50/50) and have the docile temperment of the burmese mixed with the leaner build of the rock and the color and pattern are a mixture of the two snakes.

I heard that the Indian/Burmese hybrid had a "nasty" temperment and weren't good reptiles to own. I just saw two such snakes at a herp. show today, they were selling a normal phase for $75 and an albino for $150 but I didn't buy the albino because of what I heard.

I was referring to the rock burmese which are really quite mellow. The indians are an example of a bloodline that should not be poluted by hybridizing as they are an endangered species in the wild.

When would you have some of your hybrids available? Would it be possible for you to send me information about your projects and the possibility of purchasing one of your hybrids? I know this isn't the classifieds but if we could exchange e-mail addresses to discuss this more that would be great. Thank you.

It will be in about six or seven months. I am not going to start those breeding projects until November. The animals will be advertised in Kingsnake clasifieds at the time they are hatching or just before. My email is BrianSmithReptiles@hotmail.com Email me any time. I am available virtually 24/7.

I think that crossing these two snakes is a digrace! Why would anyone degrade either one of these pythons other than to suit your financial gain? You should be ashamed!

HaHa! Got ya' again. Just kidding bro'. I'm neither "anti" or "pro" hybrid.

BrianSmith Sep 28, 2003 10:15 PM

Nopers,. not this time, my man. I am hip to your ways now. No, these snakes are truly amazing in every way. And personally I am both pro and anti hybrid myself. It's just a matter of which species for me. Some hybridizations benefit a particular species in terms of captive propagation and value and other cases certainly detract from the value of a species.
