Arraignment Postponed for Virginia Man Arrested in Snake Bite Incident
A Virginia man arrested in February for transporting and possessing poisonous snakes will have to wait six-weeks for his arraignment.
Samuel "Chuck" Hurd appeared in Judge Christie Mahn Sell's court Wednesday morning.
After a closed door session, a court officer announced the arraignment had been postponed until May 16th.
Tennessee Wildlife Agency spokesman Dan Hicks says a conviction could bring a year in prison and a 25-hundred dollar fine for each offense.
The charges were filed after Wade Westbrook of East Ridge died after being bitten by a copperhead snake on Jan. 29.
The snake belonged to Hurd.
