Vipers coming to the Midwest?

EricWI Apr 01, 2011 10:40 AM

"3. The fact that pythons are not native to the Everglades but are now prolific throughout Florida, explains another part of the problem as these wild animals cannot be kept in captivity and are often released. If the same thing occurs with vipers in the midwest, or lions in the Rockies, or bears in the northeast, then the safety of our nation would change. What do you think should be done?"

Had this not been dated March 29th, 2011, I would have expected this to be a subliminal April Fool's joke.

Sounds like a writer desperate for interesting column material.

Cinema In Focus is a social and spiritual movie commentary. Hal Conklin is former mayor of Santa Barbara and Denny Wayman is pastor of the Free Methodist Church.

What a surprise, a politician and pastor...

...School. Last time I checked rattlesnakes ,coppreheads, and cottonmouths were all in the viper family and last I knew all three occur in one part or the other in the midwest.
I also believe mountain lions are considerd to be as their name implies lions (although technically not african or asiatic lions which a different specie(s)).
The funniest one is the last one. I lived in the western adirondacks for nine years while admittedly I have lived there for over 16 years I somehow think we have not had enough continental drift for that region to have moved out of the northeast.
I hate to disappoint this guy but they have bears up there.....lots of them......and waaaayyyyyyy bigger than these oversized black labs we have here in fl. that fish and game want to call bears.

April or no April this guy is a fool.

"April or no April this guy is a fool."

Not only that, but he is also the joke itself.

natsamjosh Apr 01, 2011 03:18 PM

You don't expect this guy to figure all that out, do you?. He doesn't even seem to understand that snakes/reptiles are animals:

"snakes and animals"

"animal or reptile"

Unbelievable.
