Yes the Melanistic thayeri male has been bred to the melanistic female a few times so I threw in the het female to see if I can get some melanistics out of her as well......
She has also been with another melanistic male.......

The het female has a melanistic parent and has a solid black ventral......And if you look at her closely she has a lot of melanin going on.....I don't know if we can really call them hets but a few folks over the pond have told me that the gene is recessive......So, I will call them hets for now.....LOL

I can't wait to see fertile eggs then the sleepless nights will come when they are hatching.....LOL

Thanks Jimmy.....

Yea, I read the whole 2 part series on the whole Melanistic Thayeri here on KS. Pretty interesting on those genetics, kinda like the ruthies and the stripe gene. Is it or isn't, co-dom simple recessive, or some other plain out luck.

My reduced black female bred with the melanistic male, seems to have atleast 10 eggs. That's what I counted so far....should know in about 3 weeks....

Check out the OLD MAN in the third picture......He is blind in both eyes (cataracts) and was collected by Lloyd Lemke in 1983....He's got to be around 30 years old and still going at it.......He is not mine...Shannon Brown is his owner.....It would be cool to get some more offspring from him before he decided to head to snake heaven.......I just hope he isn't shootin dust.....LOL

Holy cow!!! Talk about vitality. Even if he is shooting blanks, I'm still impressed. So if he's 30, what is that in snake years?

I don't know how many years that is in "snake years" but I think any colubrid can live for 20 years if kept correctly.......I have about 8 or so kingsnakes over here that are in their teens......

Are you the one who posted a picture of the $800 incubator which you got at that great price considering it was worth far more?
If so, you are going to need it this year! Please post the photo of it again so I can admire it further.

Your collection is simply incredible. You have done a superb job rebuilding your collection over the last few years.
