hungry hungry kingsnake

A few months ago I got an Eastern Kingsnake at a pet show. I like it a lot. But compared to my Corn Snake and Bull Snake it seems very hungry all the time. Is that normal for an Eastern Kingsnake?

YES! Most of the Getula have voracious appetites. That is why many people think they are mean, but in fact they are underfed and hungry.

That has been my experience. The only snakes I have that rival my kings in appetite are yellow rat snakes. - Mike

Yep, they love to eat! I have several that leap out of their cage to grab their food and I have to catch them to put them back into their cages. They never let go of that food, tho! The other evening one of mine leapt out, grabbed the food item, and fell to the floor before I could catch it. I scooped it up and placed it back in the cage. The snake never noticed. It was too intent on food. These same snakes are all extremely docile at non-feeding times.

PS - I can't believe your bullsnake isn't like that, too. Mine were eating machines! Especially females.
