would it lay eggs anyway?

If you had a female Corn Snake and you cooled it enough to breed it and then you didn't breed it then would it lay eggs anyway? My snake was in the 50s to low 60s since last fall, I doubt that is low enough to breed but I don't know. Its just a Normal color so there is no reason to breed it. I am just curious if it would lay eggs anyway if it was kept cool enough to breed, or if breeding causes it to lay eggs...

It is my understanding that if she's been cooled and in breeding condition she'll produce follicles but,if not bred she'll absorb them.If she was with a male last season however, she could retain sperm and be gravid! Jeff

I have a snake that layed a clutch of slugs when she had never befor been with a male. I had put her through a brumation and in the spring she layed even thow I had never put my male in with her. I had held off on breeding due to an injury on the male.

Odds are that if you don't breed them they wont lay, but don't be shocked if they do.

Yeah it's not written in stone, lol. Many times if the eggs are not fertilized the female will re-absorb them, but sometimes as Amanda said, they will lay an entire clutch of slugs! So t answer your question, it is possible.

Miss Pink lays eggs every year without fail. If she isn't placed with a male, they are little hard yellow things, sometimes strung together like pearls. I guess they dry up inside her?
