Tom raspoptsis my apology 4 u all 2 read

serpentmorphs Apr 05, 2011 11:57 AM

I apologize for insulting your cage quality And your husbandry skills. I honestly can't stand the site of a dirty cage and like will said my OCD problem has no effect on a snake or any animal. They are durable and ruggid animals and deal with unsanitary situations everyday. I jumped to conclusions and blew things out of proportion. Animals can get sick from dirty cages but only if never cleaned or introduced to many different bacterias and parasites at one time while being under stress or weak from lack of food and bad temperatures. I don't know why I decided to post such a rude comment to you because I know I wouldn't like hearing a negative comment from anyone. I learned treat others the way you want to be treated a long long one ago and I live by that, but for some reason I had a b*tch fit and took it out on you. I'm sorry and I hope you and the rest of the forum users can accept my apology for being ignorant/childish about this. I also would like to say that I don't feel I'm an ammature or rookie ive been keeping and breeding snakes for 13 years and I use to work for a large reptile breeder for 5 years so I've seen, heard, and learned alot from my experiences and theirs. As well as coming to Kingsnake for the past 12 years learning from everyone on here.

Sincerely,
Thomas

I'm sorry that I have a short temper when people who obviously don't know what they are talking about open their mouths and bad mouth someone over not cleaning a cage while a pair of animals are locked. I just can't help myself but point out how wrong someone is and how much of a newbie they sound like. When they make comments that make them sound like they have no experience breeding BP's but feel the need to chastise someone for such a small thing. Especially when someone claims they will never do business with someone who is producing animals they cannot afford anyway. I guess what I'm saying is I'm sorry that I might tend to stick up for someone who is clearly ahead of the game with top quality animals when they are attacked by a no name newbie with nothing better to do with his time.

Guess my apology isn't good enough

serpentmorphs Apr 05, 2011 01:03 PM

I don't see your name as any of the ones who responded

garweft Apr 05, 2011 01:21 PM

I'm just not a fan of non-apology apologies.

serpentmorphs Apr 05, 2011 01:40 PM

So you feel I'm being fake correct?

I didn't respond to the thread, but I do read everything and I am a part of this kingsnake forum, so I will gladly say that I am impressed, and that you are forgiven. It takes a REAL human to admit when he/she is wrong, and that is one of the most admirable traits. Thank you.

P.S. I FEEL that anyone who can't forgive an apology like this needs to grow up a bit, and take a good look in the mirror and figure out what they truly want out of life.

P.P.S. I also feel a bit of malice for Tom because I know that I will NEVER be at his level. I will NEVER be able to spend thousands of dollars on snakes, and that makes me mad, but it is not fair to take it out on him. Occasionally, some people, like you in this case, find it difficult to keep that frustration bottled up inside. Again, your apology is awesome, and it says a lot about what kind of person you are.

Thank you, and good luck this season.

Matt and Melissa,
I almost called our business M and M Reptiles. I just thought it was funny. There is another Mike Bell, I think his business is Boas by Bell. Melissa is a name you don't hear often, it is one of my favorite girl's name. Look for my booth if you make it to the Daytona Expo.
Just wanted to say hi, Mike and Melanie

instead of inflaming each other further. the apology was given, which was for everyone to see; not just one individual.

it seems like an honest apology - and not many folks have the balls to apologize for their mistakes.

if you must keep this up, swap yr personal emails, and do it that way.

It is great that you have had second thoughts about what you said to Tom. Tom is a big boy and I don't think he really cares what you think. While what you said to Tom was uncalled for, you really went over the top with your reply to Bolitochrome. They didn't even say a word about you, it was listed under your statement though. All they said was,
"Looks fine to me. Do you use Carefresh as a substrate?"
And from that innocent question you had the nerve to attack them with this nasty reply.

"Right, a dirty cage looks good to you? I can only image what your house looks like dude, do you sh*t in your bed room? Do you use dirty dishes? You're all a bunch of nasty people if you think keeping animals on dirty cages is fine. It just shows how you live aswell so good luck with your diseased homes and animal cages."

I'm not sure how you can apologize for saying something like that.
Mike

ok i get it I'm a failure its fine I'll never be anybody but a burden to society an insulting arrogant a**hole a waste of air anything else you want to add? I tried apologizing mainly to tom since it was his post that I got this whole thing started with but by apologizing i meant that for everyone and every nasty post i replied with. I don't understand why you are being so hard on me as I didn't say anything to you but you seem to be taking this very personally.

Just to let everyone know, I will be selling man skirts and pacifiers at the expo this year. Please let me know what size you guys wear so I can have ample supplies.
I am also thinking about selling adult sized time out chairs.
Reading this forum lately, seems like these would be hot items.

Scott

You know the kind I'm talking about, great big rockers like at Cracker Barrel. That way while fuming during a time out excess energy can be burned off.
I like rockers.
Take care Scott, See you at the shows, Mike

I think we all need to calm down a bit.

serpentmorphs, I appreciate your desire to raise standards in the industry. Obviously you keep your cages very clean, which if you have the time and the patience is certainly a good thing.

Many of us choose to spot clean our substrate instead. Or provide ample susbtrate so total clean-outs will need to occur half as often. Which are methods the snakes seem to like just as well. Other breeders, including the Barkers, have noticed that the snakes appear to enjoy tubs that smell like themselves.

Now, I agree that if we decide to implement these cleaning methods, one needs to be much more observant of issues such as mold, bacteria, infections, etc. Issues that have a much smaller chance of arising if we were to do total clean-outs more often.

So ultimately it is a trade-off of effort between cleaning or attention and attentiveness. As long as we are considerate of our snakes and constantly strive to improve the quality of the animals in the industry, then our individual practices will prove themselves out as effective or not.

It is good to mention to a breeder when you think one of their practices could be improved upon. The manner in which this is done is delicate, however. As you stated, serpentmorphs, you wouldn't have liked to recieve a verbal affront either. We should ALL CONSIDER this when we want to offer suggestions for improvement. Including the concept that, although that may be the way WE do it, we could be wrong.
