is it too late..........

I live in Texas and have started getting ovulations in the past few weeks and wanted to know when do you realize it's too late to continue breeding the snakes that haven't ovulated? I have a few left I'd like to go this year, but I don't want to try pairing them up if it's a wasted effort. Thanks Chris

I know people who breed through June. I'm just about wrapped up here, May will likely complete my season. Wouldn't hurt to try!

I had a female ovulate in July last year. The eggs hatched just before Halloween. I am still pairing out here in CA. We've only had one ovulation so far. I would go for it if you want to.

I think the males pretty much decide that. Once they lose interest the female has either ovulated or reabsorbed follicles.

You can breed year round…..all is dependent on the female and her follicles. For this particular reason the bigger breeders have ultrasound machines to measure their size. The right size follicles and a couple of locks at the right time and you’re done with that female.

Just keep in mind that if you continue on breeding some males will refuse to eat and they can get burned out.

If you really want continue breeding for a couple months more then call it quits…..females have been known to retain sperm so you could get lucky you never know.

Good luck!
