Drastic Post Shed Color Change

kevinvs Apr 06, 2011 06:58 PM

So heres the scoop... my 2 year old male ball python just had his shed today. I went to take his shed out of his cage and his normally golden yellow markings were almost white. Another thing to note is that the shed itself was very dark in color, almost like he shed a lot of his color off. I have 10 ball pythons and I have never really seen a dark colored shed like this before. Yes, I have noticed that you can see the pattern of the snake in their shed, but this shed was black in some spots. Also, he has a very distinct head blushing after this shed which he has never had before. Would there be any reason for this happening?

It has happened before. No one realy knows why it does either. Pics of before and after would be cool to see.

Some belive this is caused by bad feeders I'm not sure if its due to what the rodents were fed or there fat content or what!
