some new annulata pics

mikefedzen Apr 07, 2011 04:32 PM

I've been spending a decent bit of time and money building up my collection to get the ball rolling on these mexican milk snake projects.
Recently added to my cages are these 2 adult mexican milk snake females.
The first female (the much nicer looking one) is a Tangerine, and she has no problem eating while in shed.

The second female is a plain ol' mexican milk snake, not a standout but she eats good.

And just today I received this pair of annulata from Dan Eby, the female is Spotted with some size to her, the male is a little smaller and a little less aberrant. Hopefully when bred together I end up with some spotteds... A nice addition to the collection regardless.

Last but not least is this 09' female pinstripe annulata, when I posted pics of her before she was taking 1 small pinky per feeding. Tony D suggested I switch up the temperatures so I increased the warm end to 85 and this little girl has been eating 2-3 pinks per feeding ever since.

Hope everyone's season is going as planned so far.

Mike those are some smokin' Mexicans you have....I really like that spotted female. Has anyone introduced the pin banded into the spotted yet? The best of both worlds then..Good Luck on the new project...

Hey Jimmy,
I don't think anybody has succeeded with crossing the spotteds with anything else but I could be wrong. I plan to breed the spotteds to each other one year, then hopefully the following year breed my albino male to the spotted female. Crossing the pinstripes with the spotteds isn't too bad of an idea either, the pinstripes have such a different look to them.

I think a pinbanded spotted would definately have a different look to it too...Sounds like you have great project going on can't wait to see what you produce in the next few years...

Mike,

I'm really happy to hear she's started eating well for you. She always ate well for me, but just wanted small pinks. It looks like you're going to have a sensational group of annulata when you're finished investing! Best of luck to you with your breeding season.
