I hope those eggs are fertile too...lol. Just getting started with the breeding over here. I have not caught any actual hook ups in the act, but have caught the males lined up on the females several times over the past week.

Love those pyros! The others are not bad, either!
I have a question about the Hypo-E Male Mex Mex X Classic Female.....First Time breeders...hatched in 2009. How big are they? Like, how much do they weigh? The reason I ask is because I have pair of pyros together of which the female is a big 09 and the male is a small 08. She is bigger than him and loves to eat, whereas he was sporadic his first years but is doing better this year eating wise. I have not considered they might breed this year. That would be a surprise! I do check on them regularly and they don't seem to be doing anything but eating a lot this year, which is good. The little male is not acting horny so I am assuming she is not making any pheromones.

Zafina and Zane this morning; he is in blue now and under saucer.
This may not apply to mine at all, as perhaps mex mex are a different size than pyros at sexual maturity?

The hypo-e male and the classic female are not first time breeders hatched in 2009.....

But the Granite line male and the hypo-e line female are....
The male is around 150 grams and the female around 200.....

That is the sizes of my 08 pyro trio which bred this year; the male at about 150 and the two females at slightly over 200. I guess pyros are smaller than mex mex. My 09f/08m pair have not shown any signs of breeding, which is fine with me, as they are not that big.

An adult pyro is about the same size as an adult mex mex......Depending on locality.......Some Mex Mex lines get larger than others as do some Pyro lines.....
Last year I had a pair of 2008s breed at 18 months......Three good eggs but only one hatched.....My fault or those damn tiny fly's fault.....I have a fix for that this year though......
