Pinkish stomach, and thermal gradient.

LeeFobes Sep 28, 2003 09:28 PM

I got my bp one of those extra large exo-terra retile caves. i put damp moss in it, and put it over the UTH. seems to be working well, temps are estimated at 90 - farenheit. middle of aqurium (under the black light, where water bowl is) is at 75-80f. left side (where a driftwood piece is) is around 70-75. is this a good thermal gradient? humidity is 65-70% in cage approx 80% in the hide cave.

My snake feels about 1 1/2 pounds - 2 pounds at 23" is this optimal weight? she seems to have big muscles(semi-stout looking)

also, i picked her up today and her belly has a pinkish hue ive never noticed before..are these the start if burning from the UTH?

The pinkish color of the belly indicates that your snake may shed soon. Sounds like you've got your temps well planned, sounds good.

i also notice it doesnt come outside the cave that much. with the plastic flower pot it came out everynight...or could it just be the shedding process where it hides until it sheds?

My female had the pinkish belly a few days ago. Now, her eyes have blued and she is ready to shed. Sounds like yours is too. I would make sure your humidity is good and all should be well!
