Bullfrog tadpoles time

CCappy175598 Sep 28, 2003 09:38 PM

How long is a bullfrog actually in the tadpole stage? Ive had one for about 3 months in my vivarium and he grew some stumpy little legs when I went away to Canada, but thats about all thats changed. Does he have to go trough some sort of over winter, hibernation, cooling period? I rescued him from the feeder tank at work where we always get tadpoles in with our feeder orders. Im really looking foward into him turning into a frog.

Some tadpoles will only metamorphose with a stress stimulant such as lowering the water level. I don’t know if bull frog tadpoles need stress to metamorphose.

A Bull Frog can remain in the tadpole stage for as long as 2 years.

Are you fully prepared for what it's going to take to keep him as an adult? About a 75 gallon tank and LOTS of food!!!
