Is my WTF hiding to much???

frogger12 Sep 28, 2003 09:51 PM

I have 2 WTF's that I just recently moved into a new terrarium (36' x 34' x 15'). My male (Jade) hides in his cave all day long as he did in the old terrarium, but he does come out at night and move around. My female (Angel) is out during the day time and the night and always moves around. Is Jade hiding to much? And should I take the cave out? Is this normal? Because I know that these frogs are nocturnal. But Angel doesn't hide during the day, but she does sleep some during the day. Also, Angel is starting to turn more green but the Jade is still brown. Is it because he hides all day? Thank you!

The frog is fine,he is just being a WTF. The one id worry about is the one not sleeping during the day. theyre suppossed to sleep all day and come out all night. About the brown, i have a male who is brown ALL the time. he is as happy as cna be though and croaks atleast twice a night. then i have a female whos green all the time, and a baby who is blue all the time. So it depends on the frog itself. dont worry much, just hope the girly gets some sleep during the day,she should be hding.

Frogs always hide a bit more when they are in new surroundings so not to worry, just let them settle in.

You said that Jade always hid in the other tank so thats good that he is not doing anything abnormal.

Some frogs hide when they sleep and others dont. One of mine sneaks away to sleep while the other doesn't care where he sleeps and usually perches on a leaf sometimes out in the open.

Definately don't take out his cave though, that is his little comfortable spot and he deserves to be comfortable.

Thank you for helping me out! I'm so worried about Jade hiding anymore, but a little worried about Angel not sleeping. Is there anything I can do for her? When I checked on them this morning when I woke up Angel was in the enterance to the cave, but not all the way in the cave because Jade was blocking her out. Do you think that Angel wants to hide in the cave too but Jade won't let her in? Thanx again for all your help!

My big one, Sarah, wakes up to eat before it gets dark around 6 o' clock. She'll also wake up in the middle of the day to eat a cricket or two take a drink and walk around. Sometimes she'll go back to sleep sometimes she won't. She seems to be perfectly healthy.
