Spring is in the air!

RG Apr 13, 2011 02:56 PM

I've been trying to get outside more, since everything in central Florida is out and about!

I've been taking more pictures with my dorky camera phone, but at least I have a picture to show VS just a story!

It's hard to tell, but I have to get VERY close just to get a decent pic...if I ever bring my SLR, it would be DRAMATICALLY different.

At a park in Tampa, we saw in one hour:

3 different species of frog
2 different species of water snake
2 different species of turtle
2 different species of lizard
an alligator and all kinds of birds, snails, fish, and squirrels!

For a couple months, it's nice here...then it gets too HOT!

These guys are becoming more and more rare as the Cuban Tree Frogs move north.

For you snake catching experts...try catching one of these bare handed!

or these

or these

It's good to have someone around to catch some of the action! Talk about multi-tasking; talking on the phone, playing golf and catching snakes...you don't see that on the PGA!

Here's a few Hondo pics I took with the phone just before/after feeding...

Amel Het ??? (Mega Line) I just love this snake!

Snow (66% Het Hypo, poss Pearl)check out the yellow coming in!

Nice Rusty. To me this is what it is all about, not just snakes in cages.

I visit the Tampa / St. Pete area every couple years and I actually did catch one of these buggers a few years ago! I was following it around for about a minute thinking to myself, how the hell do you pick one of these things up, lol.

and saw one of these... No shot at catching that one though, man they are fast.

That is one PINK Dillo you have there...very different looking!

They are super fun to catch!

The coachwhips are one of the few snakes, that when I see one, I have about 50% (or less) of a chance to actually catch it!

This is one raiding a cactus wren's nest in Tuscon, AZ:

a VERY red corn (red rat as I call them):

These guys lose everytime a new construction project starts:

A good pic that my Dad took:

This is slightly brackish water, so you get a large mix of fish over here in Melbourne...I've seen Florida Gar, Saltwater and Fresh water catfish, Plecostomus, Mullet, Bluegill, Large Mouth Bass, and I've even seen few huge Pacu.

These guys are common in some areas, but the Cuban Anoles are MUCH more widespread.

Going fishing with the pup...he loves to lick the fish!

Don't believe everything you read!

Another good series of photos, Rusty! I like that one of you with the Gopher Tortoise the best.

You get hitched yet? How's the new life treating you?

The dog's breath already smells like fish anyway!!!

The white shirt was for golfing...I see more stuff on golf courses than anywhere else...they are like private parks...the main reason I got into golfing in the first place!

Golf cart, outside, wildlife...oh yeah...hit that little ball around too!

I KNOW MAN!!, I was bustin the hell up over it!

As a matter of fact, when Rusty came over the other night to check out some snakes, and other snake-related stuff on my computer and BS for a while, I had this post set up on the computer, and turned the monitor off. So when he came over and we go upstairs to turn the computer monitor on, ..BAM!, the photo of him and the gator is right there when it came on..LOL!!!

We were both practically falling down laughing over it bro!, I swear!!..HAHAA!!!

Way cool, Rusty! I especially like that Hyla cinerea shot - you guys are lucky to have such cool 'phibs down that way.

Oh, and that amel Mega-line hondo is killer. The little buggers I got from you are doing very well, just to let you know!
