hello to all , im just posting to say i just got a baby beardie , well not a baby he is about 8 inches long and has already eaten 6 pin heads and im pretty sure he also ate some romaine lettace so hes doing pretty good , one thing they never told me how old he was , like i said he is 8 inches and has areally long tail if that helps any. PS i was at the medina bird/ reptile expo and saw the really small baby beardies i decided not to get one because i wanted a little bigger baby so i went to the medina pets supplies plus and there he was CEASER thats what i named him... thanks

Congrats! Yeah, I went to pet supplies after, but I went to see if they had a light. How much was the one there $85? That is a lot different than $40. But I guess you don't have to worry about cricket size as much. I will warn you about PSP, though. I rarely will even buy crix or any food from them. I lost 4 crested geckos and 2 gargoyles worth $450 because of their "dirty" crickets. I have had a savannah monitor die because they sold it knowing that the whole group was sick. When I took the animal back to the store they did nothing for me. And I refuse to buy from any petshop that lets their animals die, because they don't feed them(I saw the same exact food in an iguanas cage when I came back 3 days later). My local one let's dead carcasses lay their forever. Just warning you and anyone else. But good luck with your BD.

...is get him checked by an EXPERIENCED herp vet; he needs at least a fecal done to check for parasites. Below is a link that can help you find a vet in your area.

At 8 inches long, he should be able to safely eat 1/4 inch, & maybe 1/2 inch crix; the length of the crix' body should be no longer than the space between your dragon's eyes, across the top of his head. Offer him greens, such as collards, mustard, turnip, kale, etc. everyday, & leave them for him to munch on all day. It's not unusual for young ones to not eat greens at first, nor is it unusual for newly acquired ones of any age to not eat the first few days or so after coming to a new home.

What kind of set-up do you have? Have you done any research into the care dragons require? If you have any questions, please post them here, as there are alot of friendly ppl. here to help!

I hope to see pics of your new dragon soon!

It's good you went for the larger of the young dragons. They are easier to care for especially if you have never kept one before. He is probably a month or two old at that size. Have you read a few caresheets online to make sure you have his setup is ideal? Romaine isn't bad as a green but collard greens, mustard greens, turnip greens, endive and/or escarole would be a better choice. If you have a digital camera post a picture of your little guy!
