lipstick Sharp..................

VolcomHerp Apr 14, 2011 08:41 PM

I was just thinking if anyone knew the original hypo that was breed to a kahl to start the first hypo hets that expressed the lipstick look. Wouldn't be a great idea to use that first non het hypo/salmon to use with a sharp so we could get some lipstick sharps? I thought this would be better then mixing up both albino's in the mix. Anyone know the founder hypo/salmon that started the lipstick look to the albino kahls we see today???

what i heard is that there was a "magic" that happened between 1 albino and a few number of DH. and subsequent projects were done to breed the 1 albino with other DH. Also the DH to other albinos and there wasnt repeat of the "magic." So it as said that sometimes a pair of animals, or a small group, produce some outstanding animals because genetically there was a really great fit. it has happeend with dogs, horses, etc. It was a fortunate lightning that struck. I hope this answers your question.

But I think the original female came from Damian at D&M?

vcaruso15 Apr 15, 2011 07:54 PM

You are correct Tom bought three female Het Sunglows from Damian those hets are the mothers to to the Lipstick line. I believe the first litter that carried the lipstick name came from a female named Ruby.

Lipstick Line
The Lipstick Line refers to babies produced by three females in the Burkes collection. These are Hypo het Albino females purchased from D&M Breeders. Ruby as named by Damion of D&M is the nicest of these females and subsequently produced the first "Lipstick" Sunglows. As the name grew in popularity any animals produced from those females came to be known as the Lipstick line

I posted this down below but didn't want it to get lost down there....

As far as I know all the males used in these breedings were coral albino males that came from Pete.

You are correct that the three females came from DM. However that is where the line ends. Tom uses one albino male bred to those three females to produce the lipsticks. He has tried using a different male to the same females and a different female to the same male and none of those breedings produced lipsticks. The only true lipsticks produced came from that combo of the one male and the three females and that combo only.

As far as the relation of the Candy Cane line to the Lipstick line. The parents of both lines are decendants from the same imported hypo female which is believed to be as least partially responsible for the some traits associated both lines.

I actually started the Candy Cane line by breeding a D&M female that proved out as a super hypo het albino to a D&M male Albino that was actually litter mate to one of the first proven Super Sunglows. This litter had four Paradox Sunglows and nine Hypos with amazing colors and patterns. All of these animals are knows as the Candy Cane line

Alot of my original stuff came from Damion and he lives close to me so it works out well. I really do this more as a hobby rather than a living and the animals I used to start the project were produced by D&M so we are really partners in the project. I just feel like its the right thing to do to give him credit where due. Just because I bought the animals and breed them doesnt give me the right to take full credit in my eyes.

Some Pics of that litter....

Larry the amount of knowledge you have at your finger tips is amazing!!! You never cease to amaze me. I'm not sure if you know but D&M is out of business. At this point I am not going to continue using the candy cane name. I am not sure what name I will use to distinguish my line from others yet.

LarM Apr 16, 2011 12:45 PM

Vin I didn't know that , Wow we'll have to talk about this.

I'm kind of stunned !

I'll be waiting to hear what name you decide on !

Some of the sunglows from the litter I produced in July remind of me of the lipstick line. Its amazing how much they change color as they grow. Here's a baby pic.

I think those Sharp Sunglows you selectively produced are just on another level. To say a lipstick could be a understatement they need a new name like sharp stained glassglows
