Boa on the loose, help appreciated.

dgarner Apr 14, 2011 09:42 PM

Just got a call from a relative and apparently there is an approximately 6' boa that is loose in some woods in a nearby town. It's been loose for a couple of days. They got ahold of me to see if I had any ideas on catching it. Any snakes I've had loose were in the house, so I was hoping you all would have some ideas. I may try to go look after work tomorrow. I'd like to find it fast considering it has been pretty cool at night lately. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Derek

I'd expect that it will be trying to find some sunshine in the morning hours, I would think between 8:00AM and 11:00 AM.

I don't know what part of the country you're in, must not be too far north.

Sunning itself in the morning hours if there are any rocky areas
or clear low grass type areas, I would expect it to be some
where around that type of area sunning itself.

It might possibly go by a road for warmth in the morning as well.

In my experience, boas are more active after dark, and being tropical are unlikely to seek shelter other than they typically would in their native habitat. I would search a tight spiral from where it disappeared...most likely has not traveled very far.
