if that was meant to be a sly boa joke, I got it and it made me laugh. If not, sorry but I still laughed. Thanks. Mike Panichi

PS since we're kind of on the topic of substrate does anyone use clean cypress mulch for their boas? Just curious.

I keep my BRBS all on cypress mulch. I also know of quite of few BRB keepers who do the same.

I have gone back and forth between that and using an indented kraft paper/newspaper combo. I MUCH prefer the cypress mulch to the paper substrates. I have always purchased mine from garden supply stores etc such as lowes, wal-mart etc. In my area though, in recent years those stores have started to carry a "cypress blend" rather than pure cypress mulch. I steer clear of this stuff and have heard many bad rumors about what other types of woods etc are in these blends.

I now purchase mine from a large gardening/agrigulctural supply store locally. They carry a "Premium cypress mulch blend" that is 100% cypress which I really like. It is also nice because I can buy it by the pallet there if I want.

Anyway, sorry to ramble, but I do highly recommend giving cypress mulch a try. I use a 2 to 4 inch deep layer in my cages and this allows for them to bury themselves in the mulch (nice secure hiding areas) and helps with humidity a great deal!

thanks. I know the rainboa crew and ball python guys like it but I was hopping for feedback from BCC and BCI keepers. Also, how do you keep those tiny wood mites out of there? Just curious. Mike Panichi
