Some of my balls

serpentmorphs Apr 16, 2011 10:21 PM

New morph I'm working with I call the frost gene for now till i come up with a better name but everything I breed to her fades out as it gets older as well as they get lighter and lighter. I asked some people if they think its a fire/sulfur but they dont think so. I am going to find out since I bred my original Lesser Frost to a Fire and I'll see if they are related or not this year. Also it seems the Frost mother throws two types of genes so maybe she is a combo from the wild or maybe she is a pleitropic gene and just throws two different types? Right now I'm not sure I've only had 3 breedings from this line and I'm kinda in the guessing mode right now.

This is Pewter Lesser Frost I think? I'll know more once I breed her.

Pastel Lesser Frost picture doesn't do her justice she is mush more washed out in person and keeps getting more and more washed out.

This is Pastel I produce from a Pastel Yellowbelly Het Ghost to a Pewter looks like the Pewter was get Ghost?? or maybe just a really washed out super pastel? The other two are PYB Poss Het Ghost

Pewter Yellow Belly poss Het Ghost from a PYB Het Ghost to a Cinnamon.

This is a Super Frost or Super Frost Lesser not sure yet I will make more this year and will be more certain.

I would like to add that I'm sorry for the poor picture quality I am not a professional photographer by any means. Please let me know what you think of my balls. Thanks for looking, Thomas

I got her out of a group of imports about 6 years ago. They almost decided to keep her but they changed their minds and said I could buy her.

Looks like you took pics after feeding them large meals... Maybe it's just me but that's probably not healthy...

Anyway, good luck with the dinker, and give them days after eating before taking pictures.

I hope that pewter yellowbelly picture could help you out in your decision on what to breed to your yellowbelly female. I think they are nice but I'm really going for the super cinnamon ivory or the cinnamon ivory but you gotta start somewhere.

Thank you!! I was eyeing your pewter yellowbelly because he is amazing!!!!
I was afraid it would be to subtle a morph but not that guy he glows!! I am interested to see what your frost looks through its life cycle. : )

I will try to get some pics of the frost mother and the frost lesser who are making this new gene possible. The Lesser Frost male in his light phase he goes through is insanely bright almost looks like a pastel ghost butter or lesser. I'm very excited about this project this winter I'm going to breed my Pastel Lesser Frost male to my Desert Ghost females I can only imagine how bright they will be since both genes get lighter with age.

I'd like to see a pic of a just plain old frost...I have a female with platty-like pattern that is of an almost axanthic milk chocolatey color. Her first clutch never hatched(full term/died in eggs), but looked to be very washed out and pale when bred to pastel.

serpentmorphs Apr 17, 2011 09:26 PM

The regular frosts are the opposite of axanthic. The only snake I've seen similar to my frost is a paint ball I saw on TSK's website.

I would bet money there's no Lesser in your "Pewter Lesser Frost"

Nice snakes though! Good luck with proving that gene out

serpentmorphs Apr 17, 2011 03:10 PM

Why do you say the pewter lesser frost has no lesser?

Watever Apr 17, 2011 03:54 PM

Looks like a pewter with a little something more but not a lesser pewter.

Unless the breeding involved a super lesser (bel), I wouldn't bet on the fact that it's a pewter lesser IMO. But have never seen a grown up pewter lesser and then the fact that there could be the "frost" effect.

love this world, don't hate it.

I agree with you both that its probably just a pewter frost but the only reason I think it could be a pewter lesser frost is how much she resembles my lesser cinnamon I have. All are from my own line of cinnamon I got from some imports in 2000. She throws sable/chocolate looking normals so there may be alot more going on in this animal than we think. Only time will tell. This is why I love breeding Ball Pythons its never ending and something new always pops up and changes things around.

Matt97bps Apr 17, 2011 06:23 PM

I really am interested in this gene, but you can be sure of anything until you isolate it by breeding something to a normal.

serpentmorphs Apr 17, 2011 08:29 PM

I don't own any normals so that makes things tougher but I do have some regular frost babies from the mother. They get better with age thats why I'm wondering if its related to the fire types. I hope I don't get black eye Leucistics from the Lesser Frost x Fire that I'm currently breeding. I'm hoping for a new gene or maybe something like a spector x yellowbelly or mojave x phantom situation. I saw a Paint Ball on the TSK website that looks similar to my original Frost. So maybe it could be a paint/sentinal ball? I should find out this year for sure. Right now it's a bunch of "I don't knows" which is killing me. On the other hand I DO know that this trait makes awesome combos.
