Works great. Thawing is easy just put in hot water without worries of getting the rodent wet.
As they thaw they loose some blood out the nose so feed responce is agressive.
And the shelf life is greatly improved.

I have one, and even if the rodent's weren't packed in the freezer, I pack them before thawing. Like you said, easy and they stay -dry-. Less worry when I feed them in-cage, since substrate doesn't stick to dry rodents like it does to wet ones.
