hmm, I guess I'll put the snake thing on hold for a little while...

I have a lot of stuff going on right now, and my parents aren't budging on the no snakes rule, so I think I might as well put any plans of getting one on hold for a while. Maybe just for a couple of monthes, maybe until I move out, it depends. If my love for snakes is as strong as I think it is, I will have one someday.

It took me a lot of thinking to reach this decision, and it seems to be the only mature, reasonable decision for me for now.

That's the decision I had to make when I was 15 years old, when my mom absolutely would not allow a snake in the house, and I got a tortoise and a bearded dragon instead. Now I'm almost 19, living in college, and my mom finally let me have a baby snake (I'll have to move out before it gets too big, lol) if it means I'll be living at home this summer. It took me 4 years to get her to budge, but in about three weeks I'll be getting my very first kingsnake/milksnake (not sure which).

My point is, I waited almost 4 years for the snake, and it paid off. In the meantime I just enjoyed raising my bearded dragon. Enjoy the reptiles that you have, and you'll get a snake eventually. And remember, the anticipation of getting a snake is really the best part. All this waiting will pay off in the end. Good luck!

Oh yeah, and if there are wild snakes in your area, I suggest that you pick up the hobby of field herping and photography. That's what I've been doing too. Since you can't keep a snake, you might as well go out there and find some! It's just as fun in my opinion.

Yeah, I am having a lot of fun raising my bearded dragon. He is a lot of work, but he's worth it. Once he gets about 18" in length (right now he's only 16", and he's 1 year old) I am going to get him a nice big tank to run around and play in (hopefully), so he won't be stuck in his little 40 gallon breeder size tank for the rest of his life. For now I'll just have fun with him, and maybe get another lizard as well (like a leopard gecko). Then, someday, I can get a snake.

Right now my little beardie Sidney sleeping right on me. He's so cute.
