Yep Birdy went bye bye. He went pretty crazy over the quail. Makes me think quail chick scented pinkies might be a good option for picky baby hogs.

I JUST hate finicky eaters ....

can't stand the fact that other breeders tell you one thing ,and it stands to remain another

In my opinion, the best scent to use would be frogs or toads...
Through evolution, nronate hogs have been programed to take in amphibian prey... Most likely because that is one of the more abundant prey items where they are found and the ease at which they are consumed and digested...

Adults can afford to be less picky because they are large enough to eat a variety of animals...

A neonate hognose will most likely not be "programed" to recognize the scent of bird as a food source...

Here is an interesting bit on how even venom will change in some species from neonate to adult in order to effectively kill amphibians when they are young to killing birds and mammals when they are large enough to take them...
