Set to trade for this, is it anery??

dkrumm Apr 21, 2011 11:20 AM

Hey guys, I'm set to trade a green cheek conure which is a fairly expensive parrot for this boa and thought I should go to some people with experience to make sure it is what it's supposed to be before I make the trade. I only have one B. constrictor and I'm not even sure if it's B. c. constrictor or B. c. imperator so I didn't trust myself to make the call lol. Please let me know what you guys think and thanks in advance for any help!

What are your intentions to keep it as a pet or do you have some
idea about breeding this animal which you know so little about ?

Is this Boa a male or female ?

Feamle would be slightly more valuable in my opinion.

If a green cheek conure is worth more than $175 - $200 I wouldn't make the trade.

We(the Boa World) have not seen Anery in Bcc yet.

You better do alot of research before you jump in and don't know what the heck is going on.

Do you know how many Anery types there are in Boa c?

Do you know what localities produce what types of Anery's ?

I already know the answer to my questions that is that you do not know the answers.

I say this not to demean you but instead to make you stop and think about the task at hand.

I suggest you do alot of research on Boa constrictors before making a trade or purchase.

Do not put your boa in a big fish tank, at least do not pay for a fish tank as a cage ( or let it figure in to the trade value).

A fish tank has NO trade Value as a cage for a Boa.

I say this because fish tanks create large challenges that make it more difficult
to keep a Boa constrictor in optimal conditions.

These are my suggestions to you . . . good luck !

Psh whatever guy I've been keeping boas since I was 13 and I didn't even say it was B. c. c. I just said it was B. constrictor and you assume all this stuff just to be a jerk. wtf

with all do respect...if you have really been keeping boas for any length of time why are you asking us if it is an anery...i already answered you in another forum....and so have others...anerys are easy to tell, and if you have been keeping boas since you were 13, YOU should know that is NOT an anery. ??? just curious...just sayin dude

its a beautiful snake! I am not claiming to be an expert, but it looks to have to have to much color over all especially in the tail- so in my amateur opinion it is not anery- I would say, depending on sex, it is a $40-75 animal- cheers

I see alot of people with things on Craigslist, etc., that are not what they are supposed to be...perhaps it was bought originally as "het anery" and they don't know what they have either. I don't think everyone is intentionally deceptive. It's a pretty snake in my opinion. If you like it better than the bird then perhaps it's still a good trade for you. If your hopes in getting a morph was to breed to make money, then you might consider that there are very interesting morphs available in green cheek conures, some of which are more profitable than many of the boa morphs potentially. It's really all in what you like to raise, though. If you're interested in the birds, email me (reptixotic@yahoo.com) and I'll send you a web address of a guy with amazing green cheeks. If you're more interested in the boas, just cruise the websites and classifieds and do some research awhile before you jump into anything major.
