A Stupid Corporate Decision

pyromaniac Apr 22, 2011 07:46 PM

One of my friends works at Petco. Yesterday he was really p.o.'d because he had orders from some ignorant bigwig corporate executive that had visited the store the day before to remove all the hides from the snake and lizard cages. We thought, why can't the store just put a photo of the animal in the cage somewhere near the price, and if folks want to actually see the live animal, a clerk can bring it out of it's hide. Today the animal executive was supposed to show up, and my friend thought he would likely have the hides put back, hopefully.

Yeah, I'm sure "Mr.Corporation" big-wheel could care less about the animals well-being and stressing more without hides. He just figures they should be in more of a "show room" setting like in a jewelery store or some crap. Good photos of the animals next to the price is a much better idea as far as the animals are concerned.

He should tell Mr. "A-Hole" that if he wants to change something in store policy, then how about FEEDING the animals more often instead of messin with their hides!

I was in a Petsmart quite a while back and was looking at an anorexic mexican rosy boa. I asked the dumbass working the reptile section what the snake was currently eating and she said f/t fuzzies. I told her "I don't think so - look how skinny it is". I pressed her a little further and askede to see its feeding schedule. Well, what this revealed was that the snake had been in the store for about 8 weeks, and had NOT eaten even once. I told her to feed it a live one to not only "get it going", but because it looked like it was circling the drain and wasn't gonna last long, as it was extremely malnurished. She said it's against their corporate policy to feed live. I asked what their protocol was for snakes that simply refuse to eat the one and only menu item (FT) and she said they'll take it to a vet if it continues to refuse...yeah right, SURE THEY DO.

They have no business dealing reptiles.
What a joke.

Yeah, what BS!!!

Yes, it's against corporation "policy" to feed a snake a live meal if it won't eat anything else to keep it alive and well, but it's absolutely FINE to have snakes and other animals in their store STARVING TO DEATH!!

I would ask if it is "corporate policy" to torture and starve their animals with a slow agonizing death.

Ironic how these animal groups get these balls rolling, but won't do diddly-squat about reptiles that are starved to death in a store then simply tossed in the trash can like a tissue.

These people are so full of sh** their eyes are brown!

My friend who is employed at this Petco has many rescues he has brought home, at his own expense, to save them from the clutches of the store policies. It is not his fondest desire to nurse a lot of malnourished animals back to health, but he can't stand to see them suffer.

I'm a hairs breadth from buying my dog food from WalMart just because they don't have and mistreat herps like PetCo and PetsMart do. As is, I run to PetCo and grab a bag of dog food every 2 weeks or so...and feel dirty doing that.
