a few assorted milks and kings

DMong Apr 23, 2011 11:48 PM

Here's a few pics I took over the past two days of some of the stuff......

~Doug

A little amel/het t-plus from Shannon

vanished female from Norm Damm x Lambert breeding

Falcon ghost female(2007)

a hold-back '09 ghost female from my Falcon male x Bailey female ghost

Lambert female(2007)

sibling male of the above vanished female amel

Normal nelsoni, het t-plus

2007 Bailey ghost female

2007 Falcon ghost (from extreme sire)

2007 Doug Beard x Envy amel female

Falcon ghost female (2007)

Lee Abbott "ultra" hypo (2007)

MONSTER 2007 "high-yellow" floridana!. He's not a hypo, or het for ANYTHING whatsoever!

hybino/100% het anery from Rusty Green

Male blanchardi from Shannon

Female blanchardi from Shannon

Normal tangerine, 100% het hypo/amel/poss. het anery (mega hypo line) from Rusty Green

vanished tangerine hypo (Don Shores stock)

aberrant/striped
Outer Banks king male breeder(2008)

Him breeding the classic 2008 sticticeps female

I backed the big aberrant/striped male up with his smaller brother just in case to help ensure I have some good fertile OBX eggs. This little stud-muffin bred her at least four times every which way from 12:30 until 6:00 pm tonight. He used both hemipenes twice!...geez!.

As usual, some real nice pictures Doug. You do have an especially awsome collection of ghost hondurans. I would be proud to own any of them. Love the vanishing tangerine hypo and that het hypo almost looks hypo. That last pic of the OBX is really shows off their pattern well. Keep em coming.

Thanks for the kind words Dennis!

Yeah, the normal possible triple het("mega" hypo line) is one of the cleanest ones that were produced last year.

Very nice assortment you have there Doug. I love those high yellow florida kings you have! So many nice animals there it's hard to single any out! Outer banks are smoking as well.

Thanks a bunch Joe!

Gosh man, yes, I really do LOVE these Outer Banks bro.
it seems that these sticticeps I have display more of a "pure" OBX phenotype too, in that they have far less of a complete chain pattern going down the sides, and only have cross-bars that only go across their dorsum, and no patterning on their sides at all. Some others I see out there look like they are probably a more northerly island-chain race that tend to have a bit of intergrade mainland getula blood in them.

From all that I have researched over the years, along with data from hardcore field herper aficionado's, the purest OBX forms are only found from about Buxton on south through Ocracoke Island and down to Cape Lookout. Above the Buxton area, they seem to be more of a mainland penotype.

In my opinion, these guys depict the "purest" Outer Banks phenotype perfectly, and I just really enjoy owning these special guys!..

Yea...I saw just the part of it and thought wow...then scrolled down ...
I use empty gallon (iced tea) containers....I cut the top off at a height they can't be flipped in the box and fill them with moss....ran out so I am using peat or peat and moss...for all the snakes if possible....I take them out to breed most snakes (unless small like reds)...and take them after eggs are laid , untill they eat twice, then put them back for moist hides...disposable too...throw moss and container all away as needed.....I give most stuff cork also...and try and use aspen bedding , unless they are total cage hogs.....works fair so far.....(corns get paper...they defecate too often)....

good luck.....!!!...it must be egg time from what we are seeing now......

Great stuff Doug!! Thanks for posting.

I have to say those OBX kings take the cake. I love 'em. Very nice. If I didn't need a permit to have them in NC, I'd be on your waiting list!

Also love that monster floridana het for nothing!

Blanchardi are very cool too. How far away are you from breeding those?

Thanks bro!

Yeah, the OBX are awesome Dave, and I definitely remember your permit predicament in N.C., that sucks, but what can ya do I guess..

The big yellow "het for nothing" floridana are very impressive indeed, and they should be breeding again very soon. They have always bred in May in the past two years.

The blanchardi are still very small, it will be another two years for them to be of any size to breed unfortunately. I just don't see them being big enough by next year.

Best of luck with your awesome stuff too Dave, those freakin anery and double-hypo gentilis are absolutely INCREDIBLE!!

BTW, I think that is definitely a double-hypo, and not a ghost. It has too much light red/orange color to be a ghost, but it certainly DOES look to be hypo-erythristic for sure!. The combination of your anery x hypo would leave the animal virtually like the anery, only more faded in the dark rings, whereas your has extremely reduced red rings as well as very light dark rings. That thing is an absolute STUNNER man!

LOL!!,....yep!, I fed them again and will throw more together in a few days. From now well into May is when the fireworks really happen here as you know...

What an extraordinary group of animals, Doug. Makes me miss 'em. The ghosts, the vanishing patterns, the... well, all of them. Thanks for sharing.

DMong Apr 26, 2011 10:42 AM

Thanks Terry!. I'm sure you miss some of the aspects from time to time,...... but probably not all of the constant feeding and CLEANING part..LOL!!..

Pretty sweet group of snakes, Doug! You've got some absolutely stunning animals in that group. That first DammXLambert Hondo is unreal with how bright it is. The OBX kings are always a treat, too. Thanks for sharing!

DMong Apr 26, 2011 10:47 AM

Thanks for the kind words there Cole!. Yes, I really do like the ones you mentioned as well. If I were forced, I would part with quite a few things before I would the OBX!. They are very special and unique as you well know..
