Anyone ever used one of these "reptile harnesses" for their Sav or other monitor? I assume they are a bad idea but figured I'd get opinions here. If any of them are worth getting which one?
thanks,
Phiff

I thought about it but decided against it because my neighbors would see the lizard and it might draw negative attention. I try to let them run lose for 10 minutes in the living room though.
If you want a pet to walk around the neighborhood get a dog. they have been selectively bred over thousands of years to be able to be walked on a leash. If you have ever tried to walk a wolf or very high content wolf dog on a leash (something I tried many years ago.) you would gain valuable insight into why leashes work for dogs (or horses.) and not for wild animals (cats don't always take so well to them either.).
Compound that understanding with the fact that monitors as smart as they are do not have the intelligence of a dog and would be in a constant state of stress and you've got a bad combo. Furthermore any monitor that is halfway healthy could seriously escape from one of those harnesses and then escape to God-knows-where.
If you want to give your monitor exercise work on a larger enclosure or even build a decent sized outdoor enclosure you can keep him in temporarily during the summer months. Be aware you will have stress issues to deal with on this latter idea (as well as potential escape issues.) but it is a much better option than a leash.
