New Snake Advice

griffeymark Apr 25, 2011 07:51 AM

Hi All...

Just wanted to get some opinions. I am buying a new snake and was looking at two specifically due to their smaller size. I was hoping to get some input on the species and the cage size needed to enclose my new friend. I was hoping to stay with a 3ft by 2ft cage, but could go to 4ft length if needed. Also, I am not sure what cage height is appropriate. If anyone has advice on specific cage vendors, it would be appreciated. I am looking at the Hog Island Boa and the Savu Python, but would love to hear any other suggestions besides the ball python that stay below 6 ft maximum length.

Thanks in advance.

Mark

You can do a Hog Island boa or Savu python in a 3ft x 2ft cage, especially a male Hog. A 2ft x2ft cage is probably fine for a Savu, as they are not massive snakes. A 5ft Savu is typically alot less snake than a 5ft boa constrictor.
