revisiting monitors and thinking Ackies

calebjg Apr 25, 2011 07:56 AM

But I dont see anyone here with any.So that makes me think they may not be good pets?
I looked into the Savies but we decided against that.
But I still want a monitor of some kind.Nothing huge, midsize is okay. But a pair of ackies sounds perfect as far as size.I also was looking into Peachthroats but cant seem to get an idea of size on these as adults..

Can someone with experience tell me about the ridgetails(ackies)..Are they handlable or just a display animal?
Anyone have pics of an adult compared with something like your hand or whatever? Are they as smart as the larger monitors?

Id appreciate any help.

Don't see anyone on here with ackies? There's more than one page on this forum. I linked an older post at the bottom.

The basics:

They are shy as youngsters, but usually chill out as they mature and learn to associate you with food. They won't always end up handleable and every individual is different. As far as ease of care and size, they're your best bet. If a lizard you can handle is a top priority, you don't want a monitor.

Good luck!

You wont see them up on adds for sale much because people sell them without even having to put adds on websites.
