Dotz Delivers!

pyromaniac Apr 25, 2011 10:01 AM

This morning, with her perfect little eggs. Later I will put them in the incubator, when I am certain she has finished laying them all. She had a choice of two moss hide lay sites, one was a big covered pan of moss and the other was her familiar Glad tub moss hide . She spent some time researching these sites, then last night got in the Glad tub, instead of sleeping on her UTH, so I knew delivery was eminent. Sure enough, there they are this morning!

A silly side note; all the batteries in my camera were flat, but fortunately I had bought an external power source for my camera last year, and this is the first time I have had to use it! LOL!

Thanks, guys!

Five eggs now in incubator. They are all stuck together, so I do believe she is finished laying.

I lifted her up to check her out, then put her back in the nest to rest. Have given her a few pinks to see if she may want to eat.

Congrats from me too. Not only do they look good, the fact that they are sticking together is another indicator that they are in fact good eggs!

Dotz and her mate Mazar at the beginning of mating season. The other snake in post brumation blue is Zunchara, with whom he mated a few weeks later. So hoping for another clutch from the other female, too.

This is so exciting for me! LOL! My partner's niece had her first baby a few days ago, and I was all ho hum, but this snake egg event has me stoked! Now for the long 60 days or so wait for the hatching!

Thanks!
And I am hoping to get some more in a couple months or so! LOL! I am very happy that the eggs all look healthy. I was so concerned about contaminating them I wore surgical gloves to pick them up and transfer them to the incubator.

Checked her again and she had two more eggs! I kind of thought she might have more to go earlier so I was careful to not handle her too much, just leaving her in the nest to see what would happen. She is for sure empty now, though! LOL!

Her last two eggs are now with the other 5.

Time is going by so fast I can feel the wind on my face!
I need something to slow time! This waiting for the babies to hatch will help.

A photo of someone else's babies hatching I saved from a few years ago. Now if all goes well this will happen for me, too!
